Need assistance with new mic
Greetings:
This is my first post to this forum. I've been a professional trumpet player for 30 years, but am just beginning to record at home. Right now, I'm trying to tackle playing into the mic and listening back.
I am using a Dell 1420 Laptop PC with Audacity and I just bought a MXL 900 USB microphone.

Live Micing tips
I hopefully just got a gig doing a recording of a persons 60th birthday; oddly enough, and was wondering two things. for one, what do you think they expect and for two what mic placement tips would you give so I could catch a hold of everything.
By the way, there is no PA involved.

Some suggestions needed for invisible microphones...
We have been asked to record a local orchestra playing in a local movie theater to accompany a silent film that will be projected off a DVD onto the theater's screen. The catch is that the theater is a movie theater and has no orchestra pit so they will be sitting in front of the screen.
Another mic question... Audix D2's
I have another mic-related question.
I recently picked up a pair of Audix D-2 drum mic's, but this particular pair each has a smaller, more compact metal screen on it than all the other D-2's I have seen so far. It just plain looks different. Everything else looks the same as my other D-2's (as well as the other D-2's I have seen so far).

Sennheiser e901 boundary mic
Hello all,
I recently picked up a Sennheiser e901 mic (I believe classified as a boundary mic). I went to test it out to make sure it wasn't DOA, and at first I thought maybe it was! I couldn't hear anything back through the main speakers as I tapped on the screen. Phantom was on, too. I also attempted to talk through it and still heard nothing.

Using Two Mics
I'm trying to use two microphones to record with at the same time for a podcast radio show. They're both usb mics, exactly the same, yet only one is picking up audio.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mic and Preamp plan for upcoming drum session
An old buddy of mine and amazing drummer, who played with Ben Folds for a while, is coming in to town this weekend to lay down some tracks for me.
USB external mic - what works?
this is real 'recording on the cheap', I'm trying to capture an accurate room sound (assuming everyone miced and going thru the mixer).

T-Bone microphones?
Hello
I am on the hunt for some new microphones and have been told good things about the T-Bone mics. They are cheap but apparently good value for money and produce fairly good results.
I am looking at them compared to RODE , which are more expensive but you know what you're getting, I already have some NT2's and NT1000's and had great results with them.
