Question about USB mic's
i am very, very, very, veeerrrry tight on cash. so here's my situations. i know a bunch of people who have USB large diaphram(sp?) mics. so i can get my hands on about 4 of them.
now, my question is: Is it possible to plug all 4 into a USB hub and then plug them into the computer/laptop and have all of them like...work?

Micing Uilleann pipes
Hey all, Thought I needed to seek some experience and wisdom an micing. Doing my wife's second album (Cletic gospel), and about to record uilleann pipes.
I've not recorded them before and considering the different exits the sound comes out, I want to be sure that I mic it right.
It seems to me that ambient sound could be important with such an instrument - what think ye.

RODE NT3
Reviews, thoughts, comments. My friend bought it and is planning to use it on guitar and vocals for generally progressive rock. I doubt its a good mic for vocals, but I have no experience with it.
Thanks.

What Initial Dyanamics Control Plugin do you use.
So right now I am using the Nomad Factory LM-662 Dual Limiting Amplifier, a recreation of the Fairchild 670 limiter. I use this as the first plugin in my mastering chain to just even out the dyanamics, very lightly.
As far as anyone who might master "In The Box", what are you using for this task.
Mic problems
I'm sure this can be answered VERY easily by someone with a bit of experience but I'm stumped! I've just setup a basic recording system to create a podcast. This is my first attempt at any type of recording and have NO experience. The problems is that I can only record the left channel from a mic and wondering how to set up the mic so that both left and right will record.

Dumb question but I was wondering about mic. placement.
Is it true holding the mic. upside down makes it sound better and why? I am talking about condenser mic.'s by the way for recording vocals.

How to clean a mic?
I just bought a Shure Sm48 on ebay. I have no idea where it has been, and since it will be close to my mouth an touching my lips I would liek to clean it. Do I take the grille off? Can the grille even come off fro an Sm48? What do I clena it with? etc. Thank you. Also it has some rusty stuff on it and stuff that kind of looks like boogers on it.

Mid-budget mics for acoustic roots music?
Hi folks,
I'm looking for recommendations on condenser mics to record mostly solo, roots music in a home studio. I'll be recording some very nice vintage acoustic guitars, and occasionally open-back banjo, mandolin, lap dulcimer, fiddle, etc. I also want to record my voice (fairly strong and resonant baritone).

Vintage Crystal Mic seeks use
I recently came across a Midland 22-104 Dual Crystal Microphone and I'd like to see how it sounds as an effect mic. Can anyone tell me how I could rig this up to use for recording? Obviously the 4-pin female plug (CB style, shown in picture) will need to be XLR male, but how do I go about doing this?
