I'm curious as to what people use for drum mic mounts. I am Micing kits with three e604's on the toms and a 57 on the snare, d112, overheads etc, but the mzh 504 mounts that came with the e604's stick the mic almost into the middle of the drum.

I'm considering two options right now, the mzh 604, and the Shure a56d mounts.

I have to record a choir, with band for a few events a year. We hire in the equipment most years, so it's kind of a blank slate, however it's a charity affair, so budget is exceptionally tight for what people want out of it.

While technically it it true that 24bit gives you "more dynamic range", the real benefit is the increased resolution. You have to realize that an audio waveform is constantly passing from positive to negative, very quickly. in these microseconds you get down in the "crevices" near 0 physical amplitude, which is -inf in your DAW.

I have a cheap 20 dollar radio shack dynamic microphone (lol). hooked up to an old technics deck which I use as like a preamplifier.

Hi, I have 3 mics at hand, and i was just wondering how to put them to good use. It'd be nice if you guys could tell me like "oh this one is good for recording guitar amps or that one is good for the snare..."
you guys get the idea, i'm just starting off and these are my dad's mics.

2- Sennheiser 3K-U

I'm dying to get a new microphone now that I can't borrow my old room mate's one anymore, which was a GrooveTubes GT66. I'm kind of a newb when it comes to mics! I want to get something that will suit my needs for recording vocals and occasionally guitars, instruments or random noises. I would even consider two different mics if they stayed within my price range!

ok i bought a m-audio mobliepre usb interface

i have it hooked up to a mxl 990 mic.

when i recored i have it on channel one it only records on one side.
same with channel two.

either its all on the right or the left

is this normal or not.
how can i fix this
