Mic Magnets
I was at AES this week, and talked to some folks at Beyer and Shure to get definitive answers for the questions that came up here about their microphone magnets.
1- The Shure SM57 uses an Alnico magnet.

Neumann KM56 & N52a
I'm trying to figure out how to wire my Neumann KM56 to a Neumann N52a power supply. I'd like to know which pins on the 6 pin tuchel connector at the mic go to which pins on the rectangular 12 pin tuchel connector (1a to 6a & 1b to 6b) on the N52a. I'm aware that 220vac goes to 6a and 6b but I'm unsure of the rest.

Neumann BCM104 vs. . AKG C414
I'm trying to decide on a vocal mic for my home studio. I've used a borrowed AKG C414 for while on vocals and on acoustic instruments for the last couple of years and am about to purchase a mic of my own. I've read some on the Neumann BCM104 and I'm wondering how it compares to the AKG. I'll mostly be tracking male vocals/country music. Anyone have any input? thnx!

Better mic than a ADK Hamburg for $300-ish?
Here's my situation. I have low-end equipment, tho I'm pretty good with stuff and I'm getting professional assignments and need to upgrade stuff F-A-S-T, and of course, am not encumbered with oceans of cash.

Oktava MK012 -vs. . - RODE NT5
Does anyone have comparison advise for these two condenser mics? I am looking for a pair, mainly to mic upright piano. As I live in Australia it is cheaper for me to buy NT5s though the reviews I have read seem to favour the MK012s.

Drum Mic Placement Help has Arrived WITH SOUND CLIPS
EDIT: Here are some sound clips. I posted them down in other replies, but a couple people said I should move them up here. So...
mic for recording classic guitar
I would like to know if somebody of you has used an stc-2 (or even stc-1) by sontronics to record classic guitar and or vocals. I have read a very positive review and I think it could be the right mic for me, having to choose in that price range.

Studio Projects jacks up prices? No SP mics at Zzounds?
So in researching Studio Projects C4s, I noticed two things alarming to the consumer. First off, it looks like Studio Projects is in the process of jacking up prices by 20% or so (C4 was $299, now at Sweetwater it's $359. C1 was $199, now it's $239). A couple sites like Music123.com still have they're mics at the original price but I doubt it'll be for long.
