8 inputs / mic lines. What mics would you choose?
scenario; recording to analog tape. 8 mic lines from the studio into 8 mic inputs in C/R. recording bands live. rhythm section, then overdubs, horns if needed, vocals last.
assume there's 5 - sm57's and 2 - 414's in the collection already. we're on a tight budget. what 8 additional mics would you choose for the mic locker?
Computer/Digitally Controlled Mic Stands
What Brands, models, Types are you using/aware of?
I thinking about designing something for myself, but I am curious what other people are into.
The obvious advantage of this is the engineer gets to stay in the control room to fine tune the mic placement...
I am Interested to hear your thoughts.

AKG genuine CK12 Brass capsule: building DIY mic with a single Jfet-transistor
I have got discovered vintage AKG CK12 Brass capsule at home.
I would like to build a mic with this capsule and use a standard one-transistor Jfet circuit of ECM electret mics (common source either
source follower)...
Has anyone ever tried to wire such a large capsule with a single Jfet transistor ? Do you think this might work as a decent condenser mic ?

One mic singer songwriter original
Hi guys, first post here. Here is a one take, one mic recording of an original composition by my son. A little comp and reverb, no EQ. Guitar was a bit quiet, hence the use of compression. Critiques welcome

AKG 451 plus CK-8 Short Shotgun
I read something today in the old products section of the AKG website on the old CK-8 capsule for the 451 preamp. I knew I had one of these inside a zepplin windshield in the store, but hadn't done anything much with it since I had other shotguns. What made me think was that AKG noted it's use on hand held vocals, where it was good at reducing popping.

How to connect cardioid condenser mic to laptop?
I have a MXL 770 Cardioid Condenser mic, and I want to hook it up to my Acer Aspire 5 to start recording music. Is there any extra steps I need to take? Do I need phantom power supplies? Would it be easier to get a usb mic? I'm as noob to this as it can get.
