Mic pattern question .
A couple of weeks back we did a gig at our local jazz club . I took the lap top and put the AKG414
eqUA distance between the 1 tom,snare and kick . Probably 6 0r 7 inchs from each .
The pattern was 360 on the mic . The result was great except for a pesky ride . It was a very dark ride ( no sustain)with too much clunk when hit constantly near the bell .

Microphone repairs
I have a Groove tubes model 6tm. It has a chinese K67 capsule and a cinamag transformer, I replaced the tube on this mic with a 5840 / 6225, Pentode, Sharp Cut-Off from antique supply and it sounds okay to me. I really took my time and labeled everything, but it is noisy.

Connecting XLR mic directly to laptop
Hey. Im looking at snagging a beater laptop to mess around with until my larger desktop system is built, and the space in the house cleared.
The laptop has an 1/8" combination mic/headphone jack. Commonly used for headset mics for gaming. Im presuming this is a trrs connector.

Portable Recorder / Mics
Hi -
I'm trying to figure out the best option for purchasing a portable recorder and mics. I'm mainly looking to record solo piano right now, but I will probably also use it in other situations down the road, such as jazz combo.

microphones for home studio
If you could start over, what would you choose?
Howdy folks. I haven't done anything out of the box for over 10 years, too much traveling. Just DI'd guitars... I'll be back to recording soon enough, standard rock/pop stuff/r&b stuff - guitars, drums, bass, vocals and the miscellaneous acoustic instrument.

Condenser Mic Sounds stuffy and high pitched
Hello guys!
I have this problem with recording vocals. I use the RODE NT1A condenser mic and a Behringer Xenyx x1222 as a sound card trying to record on my laptop's DAW (Logic X Pro). The singer I recording with has a really powerful voice with very rich and strong low and high notes.

Dynamics pick up less room than condensers? True or Not?
We're having lots of comments that seem to be stating an almost 'rule' that if you have noises in your recording space that you don't want in the recording, then you go dynamic, and not condensers - and it's been said in many topics that this is an established fact.

Based on Feedback - Got 2 Mics to Remove Background Noise
Hello :)
Based on the feedback I got from respected members of this forum I ordered dynamic mic(s) to eliminate the background noise because all the other options (whichever was possible at my end) I already tried and getting mic was the only fix.
I've a home studio setup where I create educational video course and currently using MXL 770 with Scarlett solo 2nd gen.
