Piano Micing - Need Some Advice.
Hey. I was wondering if anyone has any good ideas as to how to mic an upright piano and get a decent sound. I have a steinway upright that I can't manage to get a nice sound out of.
Any Ideas will be appreciate.

Hey all. I am new to the forum and even though I have been playing guitar and drums for a while I am new to recording. Anyway, I was looking into picking up this mic kit to help record drum tracks for my music

Looking for a good all-round mic
Hi, I'm here with another naive question on the myriad world of recording. :)
I'm just starting to record on a modest set-up, working on a four-track machine to make recordings either solo or with my band. I'm a hobbyist at heart, looking to make demo recordings with near-professional quality.

Live Mic Talk
Ok, so as you may know, I run live sound for bands. I only have SM58's, and a Beta 58a. I like the Shure's a lot for the fact that they can take a beating, and since I let many, random people use the mics, this is important. I find that often times, on a male, the SM58 is easily lost in the mix.

Micing an orchestra
Hi all.
I will be recording a symphony orchestra on saturday: its not the first time I have mic'ed this particular orchestra, but on previous occasions my goal was to amplify them for an outdoor concert... this will be my first time recording a full orchestra in a hall.

how to know if a condenser mic is damaged?
Hey all,
I have no idea what I'm talking about with mics so...
How would I know if my large diaphram (1") condener mic was damaged while recording "rockstar" the guitarist. I only realized after that it may have been too loud for my mic.

Help with mic markings
I just bought duplicates of two of the mics that I own, and upon inspection I am a bit worried. The markings are clearly different on them. I bought an SM57 and Audix i5.
