Mic 'works' in one preamp, not in another. helphelphelphelp.
Hi,
Hoping somebody can shed some light on this, its got me confuddled.
Basically removing all other variables, I have a pair of Charter Oak M900 SD mics and one is acting strange.
They work fine (or seem to) when plugged directly into an RME Fireface, or a Ramsa digital mixing desk.
If your RF mic is here, you are screwed!

4 mic audio interface?
If you really need Pro Tools LE compatibility and at least 4 mic inputs, you are stuck with the Digidesign 00x series of interfaces. If you can widen the spec to include M-Powered PT, you have the M-Audio range of interfaces to choose from, and also the Mackie Onyx-i series of mixers (used as a multi-track interface).

4 mic audio interface?
I'm on a tight budget with a minimum wage job, shipping off to college this fall.
The college i'm going to might not have recording equipment, but after a semester or two i'll transfer to one that does.
Does anyone have a suggestion for an audio interface that'll let me record 4 (at least) mic inputs at once? Hopefully something that works with pro tools?

Different mics for vocals in the same song?
Do you guys do this? Say you have a song that has generally quiet parts during the voice, you may use a condenser, then for a big chorus would you go to a dynamic?
I mean, this probably doesn't matter for me and my bedroom recordings... but I just wanted to know

What Mic should I get
Hello all,
I have no experience with recording at all beyond Audacity and a computer microphone, which yields these results - http://profile.ultimate-guitar.com/beachboy4231/

SM57 as a vocal mic

For those new ones that can't believe that we keep recommending 57's, there is ample precedent back when singers and bands actually performed and didn't lip sync.
And of course labeling the mic with colored tape to prevent band mischief!
