Reconstructing vintage mic cables

Unless I'm completely stupid, which is a distinct possibility, I didn't see a forum specifically for this sort of thing, so I'm sticking it here.

I've got a few vintage dynamic microphones that require a special four prong connection at the mic. I've got one such working cable. This cable boils down to an unbalanced quarter inch plug.

Hey There.

Got the XLR Leads today and happy that i wa finally going to put some vocals on a long awaited track. Although when everything was plugged in to the Behringer Xeynx 1002 mixer i was recording through, i clicked record, and a buzzing sound was being picked up. When i spoke through the mic, it wasn't picking my voice up!

I am a harp player and use a bullet mic with an old Silvertone amp.
The bullet goes through the amp, and the amp is mic ed through the snake.
My mic hangs over the front of the amp. (typical)
I get the tone I want, no problem.
