I'm currently in a digital media class where we've been using Sony Vegas to edit audio, however, I'm sure that there are many other programs as well that people use professionally. I was wondering:

1. Talking specifically about the major motion picture studios, what are a couple of the programs that they use for audio editing (besides Vegas)?

So I am trying to set my friend up with a little home setup. He has a M-Audio fast track pro running into Sonar home studio.

I'm sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong spot, but I just got pro tools, and I'm trying to find a good book or DVD for it. Does anybody have any suggestions? I've figured out all the very basics, but I still don't feel completely comfortable yet. Any help would be awesome!

Home Studio Hardware Upgrades?

I'd like to get an idea of what the best reverb plugins out there are. I haven't had experience with very many but a couple of my favorites are the Waves Renaissance Reverb and the SIR1 (which is free, I imagine the SIR2 is better) depending on the impulses used.

So what are your favorites?

Hi I'm trying to do what I used to do years ago when I had Cubase and an old atari ST. I want to use Cubase for some recorded parts and midi I also want it to trigger my fostex d108 -8 track recorder which has more audio recorded. I want one of them to be the master and the other to be the slave. It would be ideal to have the Fostex to be master as it has a remote footswitch.

So I'm laying in bed last night thinking about this stuff. Lord help me.

I realize that there's probably no 'best' way, so perhaps someone can enlighten me with the pros and cons here...

Hi guys, just got a new soundcard, and the connection for it, everything's awesome! 6ms input time, couldn't ask for more.

I have a ten year old Samson Servo 120 amplifier that developed an faint intermittent crackling in the right channel a few months ago. Some days the crackling would be there, some days not. Recently, though, the crackling has gotten louder and more persistent, and now it seems to have spread to the left channel. The crackling only occurs when sound is run through the amplifier.
