I just finished a recording of my band, and it's 24 tracks of drums and overlapping guitars. What do I do first?

Do I normalize all of the tracks first? Then do I adjust levels? Then do I tweak EQ? Or do I compress/expand/limit/whatever first?

Just wondering if anyone has wrapped their ears around Groove Tubes' Glory Comp as of yet. Looks like another possible home run for Aspen. Fletcher...anyone? Thanks.

Do those of you that own any of the Waves bundles like any of their compressors in particular? How do Waves compressors and gates stand up to a compressor like the dbx 166?

Any other opinions about any Waves Products? Any plugins in peticular that are better or worse?

I would like some hints about applying compression across the mix bus. I'm unsure about attack and release times, ratio, and threshold parameters. I understand what these parameters do, but don't feel confident setting them. I'm using an AMEK 9098compressor in Pro Tools. I'm doing a lot of pop/rock mixes. If anyone has any thoughts I would greatly appreciate some direction.

My next stage in upgrading my DAW system is to purchase some plugins. I plan mainly to record vocals and acoustic guitar. I'm not lookin' for anything fancy - a nice natural reverb / delay, a compressor and EQ.

I've thought about TC Powercore, UAD1 and a Wavesbundle.

Can anyone give me their opinion?

I dont really understand the mechanical (and thus sonic) differences between these 2 types of compressors. I am starting to look into vocal compression and I am trying to understand the science behind compressors.

I've only just started thinking about setting up a small studio and am in the process of deciding what equipment to buy.

As far as the desk goes i was thinking of a Yamaha 02R as it is fully featured and seems to be exactly what i need but i was wondering if i'd be better going for an analog desk + gates, compressors, effects etc.

What is the general opinion about this?

Then, as you do, I checked the methodology they suggest to do the upgrade. .

"Use the SCSI interface. ." says the blurb.

:oops: But the VF80ex does NOT HAVE a SCSI interface.

So, if anyone can shine some light on how I can update the software I am open to suggestions?
