Please help me...I've bought this card after reading a lot about pci based cards and something isn't right. It just doesn't record well. My old card was a Audigy Platinum EX 2. I am using the same mic, the same cables, and I've tested them all at a friends house to see if they still work fine and they do.

I have got cuebase se but i only have an AC97 soundcard. as a result of this poor soundcard i am getting time delays between when i play notes using my midi keyboard and when they come out as sound. i think getting a better soundcard would solve the problem but as i am running the software on a laptop i would need an external soundcard.

most knowledgeable with Audio Gaff a close second

well, I have heard really good things on both of these units and have never heard anyone compare them to each other. They are both 4 channel mic preamps, the 428 being solid state with the optional 8 channel ADAT out ($1699, $599 for optional ADAT a/d), and the VMP-4000e is tube with just analog outs ($1899). I know they have different "colors of sound", but is one better quality?

Sorry for posting off topic but I've been contemplating on getting an mp3 player to run off rough mixes instead of burning 1 or 2 tracks to CD. Is anybody doing this? Which ones do you use? IS anyone aware of a player that will be compatible with .wav files?

I have a digital DM24 console, which I know can be used as control surface for some DAWs (it worked fine with Nuendo). Now that I have a Digi 001 Pro Tools LE, I don't know how to:
1) Make the DM24 work in HUI mode
2)Make PT recognize the desk
Has anyone tried this before?

I am using a 2.6 ghz p4 800mhz fsb 1gb ddram computer with a RODE nt-1 mic, SB Audigy 2 ZS sound card, AKG K141 Monitor Headphones (no speakers), and Adobe Audition for multitracking currently for recording and mastering hip hop vocals.

I have about $800 to work with ($300 in gift cards from sam ash, so if you can please suggest gear that is available there :D)
