I've got 2 choices, connecting the Direct Out to my converters, which is post-channel (trim, lowcut, fader, EQ), but gives me a balanced out.

Much talk about Apogee, Lucid, RME, and all the usual suspects in the mid-level/pro converters available. I did a search for this UA 2192 and found a dismal amount of opinions. I just got the new Sweetwater catalog (along with a new credit card, ouch...) and the irony is too strong to discount the intent of purchasing some new gear.

I just bought a pair of Studio Projects C4 mic's. I wanted to know if anyone else has a problem with getting the mic clips that come with them to hold on to the mic really tightly?

I just ordered a MOTU 896HD and it should be here on Thursday. I had a PreSonus Firepod, but returned it as it did not work as well for live sound. The XLR outputs and the assignable channels is why I ordered the Motu. I was wondering what other's experiences were with this device in either a recording setting or live. Thanks!

Well, I just got back to Ohio from the AES show in San Fran.

Wow, what a weekend! Although it's about new gear and education, I felt that it was really about the people who make up this crazy industry. It was a non-stop affair with the show opening at 10am and closing around 6pm but, it was the after-hours happenings that were the most interesting.

What are your 5 favorite pieces of gear? (= gear you trust and couldn't do without - not necessarily the best and most expensive stuff out there)
