I've been tearing my brain to pieces trying to pick a middle line preamp. Does anyone have any comments on using the Langevin Dual Mono Mic Pre with EQ? It can be had for about $1100. What about the Langevin Pultec? Good stuff? No?
One last question... the PreSonus MP20 claims to be a discrete class A preamp. Anyone heard this thing? Good price if its decent.

I get the impression several of you think ADAT's will soon be a thing of the past. I have been using mine for live eight track recording projects and it has worked well for me. What would you all recommend as a replacement with a reasonable cost? I need to record up to five hours of music and ADAT tapes make a very cost effective method.

I just got a Soundelux Elux 251 and must say it rocks. It seems a little clearer than and old Elam, but definitely sounds like its from the Elam family. I was curious what changes to the amplifier design Mr. Bock made to make the mic sound like it does.

I'm currently recovering from a session I engineered this past weekend. I'm wondering what some of you think about how it went down and what you would have done in the same situation.

When playing back any number of Logic Audio Mac audio tracks,
arrange page activity on unrelated audio tracks, ie;
muting tracks and/or moving audio, results in a audio playback drop out - all audio - lasting about 2 seconds.
This does happen when playing through the Mac-av outs, and does
happen in the Pro Tools 5.01 application.

Last I heard it really was almost to you. What's the latest? In another month Behringerwill be releasing their "Centipede", complete with Dave Hill's typos in the DSP code.
