Great River MP-2NV vs. . MP-2MH
Forums
I am more or less sold on Great River pres and would appreciate hearing from anyone who has done the a/b on the MP-2NV vs the MP-2MH.
I am interested to record acoustic instruments, mostly bluegrass-style with ribbon and condensor mics. Mainly dobro & Weissenborn guitar, but also acoustic fingerstyle guitar and mandolin.
My current equipment is

Roland VS-2480 vs. . Mackie Onyx/Tracktion
Forums
I'm looking for opinions on which would be a preferred setup. I am currently using a Roland VS-1680 now and would like to upgrade to either the new VS-2480DVD or possibly going the PC DAW route with a Mackie Onyx 1640 including the firewire card which comes with Tracktion (Mackie's software) or maybe get Logic or Cubase. Is anyone using the Onyx firewire setup? If so what software?

Cool Tip (or just interesting read)
Forums
I found this while searching the Mix Magazine website for Beatles stuff.
Its an interview of the Beatles' recording engineer Geoff Emerick:
For a while, you were monitoring in mono, even for stereo releases.

10, 12 or 15" speakers for a P.A. ?
Forums
Hi there! I'm considering buying a speaker for a voice PA for my band rehearsals. (Thinking about the peavey PR serie), but I'm wondering if I should buy the 10, 12 or 15" version... Do you have some advices for me? Btw, they are equally loud (400w) and the only use for them is for voice with a loud rock band...
thanks

Lynx Aurora and Classical Guitar
Forums
Well, I did it - I took the plunge. My Aurora 8 arrived Friday and I'm itching to use it.
I have a classical guitarist coming by to work on an existing project this next weekend. I've requested that he bring his instrument and I'll see what we can track and use for demos. (Though, it will be in my home and the acoustics will be a tad limited.)

Anything like Spectra Foo for pc?
Forums
Greets all,
I use both mac and pc platforms since both are good at certain things. One thing mac has that pc doesn't is Metric Halo's Spectra Foo.
Is there anything for pc that comes even remotely close to Spectra Foo both in terms of accuracy and features?

Given the same cpu, how much difference does the extra cache make real world?
Also how can AMD cpus have a higher model number and a lower clock speed than a chip with a lower model number?
i.e 3700+ = 2.2 ghx, and 3400+ = 2.4 ghz?
