I need a preamp to record mainly vocals, nylon string guitar, trumpet and flute and to a lesser extent didgeridoo amd percussion. From what I have been able to find through research and my money constraints these preamps, dbx 786, ISA 428, AMEK Pure path, are to my liking.

I'm using for about 1 month an Mbox with my Acer Aspire 1692.

Unfortunately my chiset is unsupported by Mbox. Don't worry, a friend rent me the sound card, I don't have bought it.

I'd like you guys to take a listen to one of my songs, mainly my drum programming and comment on it. I've been programming drums for over 4 years with a program called fruity loops. I use samples that I have recorded of my own kit. That may sound easy but trust me it takes a hell of a lot of work to get good samples. Thats the key.

in the "now u've got something to live for" clip,u can see it quite clearly,and even if some images show the guitars i cannot make out what brand they are.. must be some rather unknown brand,I think..

Why is it when i put audio through a lot of compressors
it gives me like a Milky Creamy Fat sound?

What makes the compressor circuit turn the audio to
the Milk and creame?

I put 4 compressors in series and i got more Milk and Cream
and Thick sound out of the audio but why?

I though compressors just squeezed the sound together?

I am listening to this absolutely stunning disc of piano music of Mompou, played by Stephen Hough on Hyperion (GAW21963). This is really beautiful music. Reminds me of Torroba a bit.

There is a used gear/ pawn store in my town who has a Digi 002 rack for $500. The problem is that he has nothing else with it. Is it worth picking up? I know that the hardware won't obvioulsy work without pro tools, but can the software be purchased seperately? Will it work? The store will guarantee the rack "no questions asked" for 30 days.Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I have a mesa triple rec, and i love the sound. Im looking for that sevendust/finch sound. It sounds awesome miCD. Im using a 57beta. I want that full(not scratchy) smooth present tone. If anyone has any tips to get that tone to the next level, whether it be plugins or anything i would appreciate it.

For you electronics wizzes out there, i'll try to give you the reader's digest version, for the rest of you, this will be a VERY boring post:

I bought an old tube pre at a garage sale for $5 (altec Lansing 1567A, hand wired, all tube, decades old)

I had it converted to 4 into 4. I have 2 of the original mic transformers("Peerless 4722," 38/150:50K)

Are there any dual boot tutorials or directions geared toward DAWs. I have general info from a variety of sources. I want a dual boot XP/XP and want to be sure that on booting up (regardless of OS) that I only see my C drive and my audio data drive. Do I need to start from a reformatted disk?
