Anyone know of a decent MS decoder for field use? The AEA MS38 Lite (headphone amp with MS decoding) was exactly what I was looking for, but it is sadly out of production.

Hi everyone in the land of music recording. Been recording home studio with live instruments and now want to expand with a decent sound card. Been using Cakewalk, yes old timer I know! Can anyone make any suggestions to sound cards or share any experiences?

Just wondering if anyone has any hints or tips for recording cello? I have a good hard disk recorder and a nice Red5 tube condenser microphone to use, so the equipment should be ok. My cello player will be recording whilst listening to guitar and a vocal tracks which are ready and finished.

While cleaning the storeroom in my workplace (live sound company) I found a strange cable, with a 230V male in one end, and a standard 3-pin XLR male in the other!
Have anyone of you ever come across one of these truly lethal cables? This is surely the work of a wicked mind!

I've been looking at the PreSonus Eureka for a front end preamp to My Firepod, applications would be vocals, acoustic and electric guitars drums bass and whatever else.

Anybody have good or back feedback on this unit?

I am fairly new to the whole home studio 'thing' but as a musician I have spent plenty of time in Studios. My questions are about compression. I currently have a number of compressor plug in's (UAD-1, Waves, Wave Arts and Focusrite D2/D3) which in many cases attempt to imitate a hardware counterpart. Unfortunately, I do not have the hardware versions handy to make the necessary comparisons.

Im looking for monitors for around $500-$800, Ive seen the following

Event TR8 XL
Dynaudio BM5
Alesis Prolinear 720 DSP
Yamaha MSP5

Mainly for Rock-Pop music, if anyone recommends the Dynaudio's, what Amp would you put on these?
