Looking at the Audient ASP008
Forums
I have been looking at the Audient ASP008 pre. I realize it's not a True Systems or Millennia or even a JLM TMP8 but it fits my budget better and from what I've read, it seems to be a fairly decent unit.

"EXPENSIVE CABLES"
Forums
ok my good friend preached to me about cables recently. now i know that you're sound is only as good as your weakest link.. so he told me about "MONSTER 1000" cables. told me how different frequencies travel at different speeds and how they clutter eachother up by the time they reach the other end.

Quiet hard disks ?
Forums
Hi,
Just wondering, is there some general agreement on who makes the quietest drives ? Maxtor, Western Digital, Seagate ?
(I realize this might be model-dependent though)

Static from headphones going into AD!
Forums
My headphones are connected to a Samson headphone amp. The headphones can pick up static easily and it goes right into the AD of my RME multiface! The headphone amp is hooked through the output of the multiface. Any corrections to this? New headphone amp. I noticed this headphone amp does not have a ground.
Any help is appreciated. THANKS.

looking for a program w/ a user friendly drum sequencer
Forums
I have Cubase SX, and after a few months Ive gotten to know my way around a little bit, but it still isn't user friendly at all, especially for sequencing drums. I looking for a program that has bulit in support for EASLIY creating your own drum loops and implementing them seamlessly into your project. Doing drums on Cubase makes me want to stop recording all together. thanks a lot!
Help please for recording mixes to CD
Forums
Can someone please help?
I'm a DJ and although I know how to play and mix records, IT isn't a strong area for me. .
I have all the hardware required, can anyone recommend a good software package (or several to use together) so that I can record a set from vinyl onto my PC, then edit it if I want to before burning to CD please?
Thanks.

Getting an AE job in L.A. vs. Chicago
Forums
I might be living in L.A. for a while, and I don't want to start from scratch with building a new home studio and then trying to get clients in my home studio since I may only be there temporarily. Is it just as impossible to get AE work in L.A. as it is in Chicago?

Avalon AD2022 ?. ground loop ?
Forums
I have the Avalon and when I use the DI's on the front with a Roland XV5050 I get a loud Humm. It also hapens with my AKAI MPC 4000 sampler.
I've dismantled my studio, and plugged in only the Roland and the Avalon through my Roland 2480 HD recorder. No luck
I've tried the Ebtech product

How do pro's get the snare so loud and natural sounding?
Forums
Just wondering if any of you guys have any insite on how the pros can get a snare drum so loud and natural in the mix. I was listing to a tune the other day and the snare was as loud as the vocals but the rest of the kit was barely audiable. The snare was also very clear, and natural sounding. How do they get that seperation?
