DRUM recording techniques
Forums
Alright so here's my deal. i'm thinking for good sounding kick drum...should i go with a boost of highs in eq and cut in lows and a thin Q sound to get a good punch in bass drum which doesn't rival bass guitar in the mix or should i try cloning the bass drum track eqing one copy really high mid and high for punch and the other copy low end for depth? which technique will sound better ?

Gear Insurance?
Forums
I have a portable recording business and just had my insurance company tell me that they cannot insure my equipment. If I used a studio and all my stuff was to stay in there then they could write it. Since I am mobile they cannot. Anyone ever have this problem or know of companies that specialize in this part of our industry?

emu 1212/ soundblaster 2 zs
Forums
I read some of your advice & found it very helpful.
I just got a dell 8400 loaded. I got the non intigrated soundblaster card for output only.
I bought the emu for all recording. They are having problems and I am very frustrated. Can I pull the sound balster & use the emu alone for everything. I have the 5.1 sound speakers as well.

I need advice on purchasing a Multitrack
Forums
Hi All,
I'm about to purchase a multitrack recorder. I'm leaning towards the Zoom 1608. One other consderation is the Korg 1600, but the Zoom seems to be more in line with the features I will need/want.

Mod the Studio Projects VTB-1
Forums
Anybody mod the Studio Projects VTB-1?
I was wondering if there was anything i could about swapping out, like op amps/tubes/transformers, to get even more out of this preamp. Maybe use Burr Browns and Jensens. Possibley swap the Tube for a Mullard or something. If so do you know the part/model numbers? How benificial has your mod been?
Thanks!
