I'm going to be using this primarly for recording electric guitar direct but also for vocals. I'll be running my pedals through the tube pre into an ADA Microcab then into my emu 1212m.

feel free to recommend other preamps if you think both of these will suck with electric guitar.

I have seen on a couple of preamps the ability to do m-s summing when recording stereo using the m/s technique.

What are phase problems/cancellation? I haveh eard about it being when two or more mics are "out of phase". i would love to know what this is/how to fix it/how to tell if it's happening. thanks.

ok i have hdsp 9652 and Behringer 's ultramatch src 2496. Before formatting the HD i had no problem. After the format and installing windows xp i have a problem. When i choose the clock from hdsp i have no signal (no sync ). When i choose the clock from src2496 i have sync but no output (no sound at all).

I am currently running a Behringer Ultragain Pro-8 Digital (mic preamp) which is going Digital Optical out into a MOTU 828 which is then going firewire out into my computer. As for software, I am cheap, and I feel like an idiot saying this here but I'm running Cool Edit Pro 2.0. . Oh and BTW I'm running Windows 2000, so yes this is a PC.

Ive about 100 songs I recorded on a Tascam 4 track and am thinking of trasferring them to a daw,remixing them,overdubbing the rythm patterns with drum samples,and just generally fixing all the weak spots.
Whats the best place to look for a daw..would I be able to get a good one on e-bay and what are the minimum requirements I should look for?

Hey gang, I'm looking at the RME fireface and the Tascam 1884 for my new setup. I'm needing a firewire interface so that I can go from PC to Laptop.

The differences are obvious, but I was wondering if anyone can comment on the sound quality between the two?
Like how do the pres and and converters compare?

Is this compressor clean enough, without artifacts for compressor/limiting with grand piano recording?
