Hello. This is my first post on this board but i have been reading it a lot for a while and it has been very helpful to me.
regarding monitors
Forums
At the moment in my home project studio i'm using HiFi audio equipment for monitoring which I know is not the best choice but at least it's better than just headphones. I'm currently using a pair of Boston Acoustics CR85s and a Yamaha RX 595 Stereo Reciever. The reason I'm posting this is perhaps someone can help me with a little problem I'm having.

A way to transfer files onto a Fostex mr-8
Forums
Is there a way to transfer .WAV files that were say recorded in Pro Tools LE onto my fostex mr-8?
Say like I recorded the bass and guitar at my friend's studio on Pro Tools, and then I want to finish the rest at my own home studio. Would I be able to put the wave on a DATA CD, and via USB put it on the mr-8?

beginning soundcards
Forums
I had ordered an Echo MIA soundcard and it is on backorder. I don't want to wait until February 10 for the shipment. Is there any other soundcard in that $100 range that is a good buy to hook up a mixer and some monitors?

Coming from an acoustic music background (classical, jazz, world music), I am not used to all these guitar amps and cabinets. So please be nice and try not to laugh too loud at the following question:

Classical Editing Gone Crazy
Forums
We are about to start a new CD project with a fantastic chamber group, where I know editing will be, again, a frustrating and time consuming process.
Its not that classical musicians cannot play, they all are, generally, consummate live performers.
Its that editing is now de rigueur for classical CD's and I find it the most onerous of all our work.

dedicated converters?
Forums
I've been producing music for 30 years mostly in the tv/ radio broadcast realm. I 've always been a musician first and an engineer
somewhere down the line. As the equipment got better and cheaper
our options increase and now making records in our garage is a reality.

building decent monitors?
Forums
Hi guys.
I'm hearing that your monitors are very important to the overall quality of your mixes.
2 questions:
I was wondering if it is worth building my own? And if so does anybody out there know of some good plans, complete with driver and crossover information?
