Using a sidechain

Hi am a Cubase sx user.. i use the Wavescompressor a lot on my drums and vocals..it does wonders i must say sometimes.. but i would wana try out something with my snare using the side chain thing u can use on a hardware comp.. what i want to do is this.. i want to use a static noise and side chain it to my snare .. so when ever the snare opens i want the static to open along with it.

My mix sounds WAY too soft and quiet once burned onto CD

i have a digital recorder/mixer with a CD/R-RW drive built in to burn
CD's directly from the unit.

however, when i mix down, everything sounds fine through the headphones, and the levels are right up near 0 dB.

but the mix is too quiet and soft on CD

actually, the bass and drums sound good, but the guitars and vocals are too quiet.

How many machines & formats do you record to at a gig?

...For me, the basic setup is:

CDR recorder (for the client CD that day)

DAT (2 trk safety- a clone of the signal the CD gets)

multitrack 24 bit HD (each mic on it's track, plus 'hot' and 'safe-level' 2 trk mixes)

Pyramix PC if I know there will be post work,(same signals as the 24bit HD).
