Newbie On Board! ( Question For Kurt)
Forums
Hi,I'm actually just coming on board, but been browsing awhile! You all do a great job. Question: I do a lot of direct injection recording, midi etc. Basically the only purpose I use a mic for at this time is vocals and occassional acoustic guitar. I have this theory ( don't know if it's rational) to try and use the best DI's I can afford.

Another Word Clock Question.
Forums
Is a distribution box preferrable in a situation where I chain my word clock this way :
(AD-16x WC out) > (DA-16x WC in) > (DA-16x WC out) > (MOTU 2408 WC in)
...where I import the digital output of the AD-16x via the 2408's ADAT inputs and likewise take the ADAT outputs of the 2408 and send them to the inputs of the DA-16x?

ADAT and motu
Forums
okay, i've got a MOTU 828 with ADAT optical ins and outs. my question is, can i record onto the ADAT using the lightpipe? if so how? i'm wanting to record tracks onto the ADAT, and then transfer them into my computer for editing and mixing. oh, it's an ADAT xt by the way.

Recording a piano concerto - well above the head

So,
still reeling from the experience a month later. I'll try to post a few bits here and there of my experience, hopefully for your amusement. As I have thought about doing this for a while, I guess I'll just start here and see how much I can manage to make into the first posting.
So here it is.

Forums
Im getting more and more interested in these beauts. I was just wondering if any one here owns, has owned, has used one or who knows someone who uses one etc and if they could pass their own "2 cents" as you say.

new tracking headphone option
Forums
Hey guy/gals I have found a new inexpensive tracking headphone option. It is avialable at your local radioshack, for those of you in the states, they are $21.99, have a 1/4in stereo jack with a coiled cord and comes with the 1/4in to 1/8in adapter. It has a freq. response of 20-20khz and an imp.

Setup time crazies
Forums
Many of my classical/ early music projects are done in churches. I have found that setup time at these venues is often very very tight. Moreover, 'teardown and get out time' can also be quite a challenge. Sometimes I think that the mark of a real professional location recordist is if they can get out after the show fast enough to avoid pissing off the custodian of the venue!
