I have a question about being able to record live into a PC. I need to get 3 guitar, 2 mics, and a mic'ed up drum set into my PC, or laptop. I have Cubase to record on and the sales person at the local guitar center was recommending something like a firewire 410 or 1814 to get the music from the instruments to the pc.

I am exploring the realm of PC recording and attempting to learn as much as I can before making a decision. Besides reading everything I can off the forums on this website, I read Home Recording for Dummies. The author states that when purchasing a PC it is important to have dual hard drives, one for the song your are recording and one for the program you are using.

I have a question about converting from 24/96 down to 16/44.1:

Until now I've been recording my kick drum with either a sm58 or sm57 but with the need of some serious eq. Therefor I'm going to invest in a kick-drum mic, but which one?

Hi all, just wondering...I saw a pair of mint ns10's go for 1100 dollars on ebay yesterday. I've been thinking lately that if I could get anything close to that, I'd let them go in a second 8-). Is that really what they're going for on a regular basis?

While I was tempted to post this on the 'Studio' board as well since mic selection and technique are factored in, I think it makes the most sense here on the Gear forum.

I was just wondering if anyone here ever uses shotguns when recording choirs. I'm really thinking in terms of an MS setup.
