Proposed Test for Kurt (or anyone else)
Forums
For years we've been hearing claims that SAWStudio sounds better than Nuendo, Cubase, Sonar, PT, etc.
Yet to my knowledge, no one has objectively tested those claims.
I wonder if Kurt or anyone else would be interested in performing such a test. I'd help out in any way I could.

Time to upgrade the old Oktava MK012's. Use: drum overheads and acoustic gtr mostly. I'm using them mostly to capture cymbals and the voice of the snare and toms. I always mic the toms, kick, snare etc so I don't need lots of low end in my overheads. Price range around $1000 + or - a few hundred bucks.
Here's what I know of
I'm having problems with my drum kit

I have a six piece set of pearls session custom series drums. I just installed a new set of Aquarian response 2 coated heads and they sound great, although I am pleased with the tone and response of these heads I dont like the fact that these drums project such a great amount of sustain.

Any one tried this 8 channel pre yet, I thought at first it was 8 vtb1's in 1 rack space, but it looks to be different. On the website it says that the unit has new burr brown ics in it too. I am looking to use it for drum kit tracking.

Choral Recording - my Sebatron 's maiden voyage
Forums
This was a freebee - so I took some liberties to experiment. I think it worked. Tried my new preamp - experimented with mic positioning - used ORTF - hadn't done that before. Wanted to be able to balance the choir and the orchestra, so the choir mics (NT5) are above and toward the rear of the instruments. Orchestra mics (MK012) are behind the conductor.
