Hey everybody! I was hoping for some input and helpful ideas for my studio! I have two 48 point patchbay(AP 1/4" in's and out's) and I have my 100' live room snake patched up to it via HOSA XLR to 1/4" balanced snake and then normalled into my O2R96 via the HOSA 1/4" balanced to XLR. this is done only on the last Eight channels of the snake.

I have just started to have a MAJOR lock up and stutter problem! the entire system freezes and the play back stutters. I then need to restart the entire computer. it will sometimes just lock on boot up of Nuendo. is this a hard drive problem??? I am using nuendo 2.2.0 with XP Pro but I don't think I have service pack 1 installed for XP. this is a new problem that has come up.

I'm building a small shonky home studio out of bits and pieces that I've picked up cheap. Picked up an old StudioMaster sound desk and a rather nice Torque PA at the weekend and am having a little problem with it: basically, while sounding lovely, it buzzes continually and rather annoyingly all the time.

I'm putting together a portable mini studio and I was just wondering if anyone would like to offer comments/ opinions/ suggestions on my choices of gear. I'll mostly be recording typical rock instruments.

I'm starting off with a Toshiba laptop, which I already have. It's a 1.7GHz centrino, 512MB RAM, 60GB drive.

I've begun to experience hiss when recording through the line-in with my SB AWE64. Is there any way I can prevent this hiss?

I go headphone-out from my minidisc recorder, through a preamp, into the sound card's line-in. When I just play the minidisc audio through the sound card's line-in, the sound is excellent, with minimal or zero hiss.

In the area I live a lot of bands are going for that Slipknot/Soulfly raw dirty sound. Does anyone have any details on gear/mics/pre's used?

I honestly love the sounds that come from Indigo Ranch and Ross Robinson, but am not sure how to achieve the rawness. My stuff sounds a little too polished.
