here's a setup I use at home, mainly for personal acoustic/electric tracks.

samson co1 condensor mic
art v3 studio tube preamp
edirol 2 channel usb interface
compaq desktop, athlon 3200, 1gb ram

My Midi Controller allows me to add 2 Sustain pedals. Of Course one I use for Sustain, but I don't know what is best to use the other for. I tried the Sostenuto and Soft Pedal function(Midi cc 66/67) But they don't seem to do much. Is there a better midi function for this extra sustain pedal? Please know my keyboard knowledge is small and I use it mainly for softsynths. :D

I wanted some opinions on what people think about this...

Yo. Do any of you know how to get that tight sound like Destiny's Child or Justin Timberlake? I'm working on some rap tracks that I want to sound tight and clean. Also something like Xtina's "Dirrty" or Toni Braxton's "Wasn't Man Enough For Me".

Picked up a Western Digital External HD for transferring Project & Bundle files (SONAR XL) between our band's two project studios (since most of our projects are well over CD-R capacity.)

The internal secondary drives in the PC's in our studios (which are used exclusively for audio data) are formatted to NTFS.

Now before I spend nights trying to find the best way to patch my 17 racks of outboard, could some suggest ways they are doing it?

I have Vocal processors, comps, Guitar proc.. etc.

I'm in the process of starting my own recording studio, but I'm not sure how much I should charge. So I was just wondering how much you guys charge at your studios, big or small.

Would anyone have any comments concerning the nvidia chipset? I am considering it as well as an AMD 64 for a DAW I will assemble.

I've been recording in Digital Performer for years but lately I've been playing around with mostlty percussion loops on soundtrack then exporting them to DP and incorporating them into my recordings. I've bough 3 percussion loops CDs, latin percussion by Sony (Acid), latin loops by (I forgot) and latin Street by M Audio, which is basically worthless for my purposes.
