There was a time, before I got into the craft of audio engineering, where I could hear a song and enjoy it for what it was... a great song with a hooky melody and cool lyrics... but for the most part, those days are gone, and they have been for a long time now - and I find that sad.

I'm looking to buy a used mixing console, but I'm trying to find out which one is warmer or better sounding.

Is it: Soundworkshop, Soundcraft, or Soundtracs ?

I have encountered a peculiar problem, and i literally can't find anyone who has the same problem. I just bought a new USB microphone "the t.bone GC 100 USB" Windows update installed the drivers and the mic works but when activated, all other sounds on my pc stops playing. and the second i leave teamspeak or test the mic in windows, the sounds start playing again.

Usually happens when your cache is not updating a new password or email address. Mobile devices can be problematic as they cache everything.
If you are having difficulties, CLEAR your cache whenever you are having problems.

Mackie Onyx 4080 made a pop sound and all phantom power was lost. Includes the 12 v. to the console lights. Any thoughts on where to look? Is there a fuse for the DC? I am searching around and so far cannot find a clue to what happened. Maybe we lost a transformer? The mixer functions fine otherwise.

The scenarios he uses to describe the "exceptions" - better build quality, better handling of SPL, better voltage to accommodate lower output mics, etc. - are exactly the reasons as to why people do choose high-endpreamps. These aren't rare or incidental exceptions. They are everyday scenarios.
