Deconstructing Studio Drum Tracks (Recorded Under Good Conditions)
Cracking or Sizzling noise
I'm recording through my bluebird blue condenser microphone connected to my M-Audio M-Track Interface that is then obviously connected to my laptop through USB. I find that when I listen to the mic through the direct option the sound is crystal clear, but when I switch to the USB there is a consistent crackling noise.

Audio Interface With Built-in Delay
Are there any audio interfaces (preferably firewire), that have built-in delay?
I've yet to see one (although many have other built-in effects).
It would need to have hardware routing (not much point in built-in delay, just for recording).
I have a setup that requires sending a delayed signal and we've been doing it with Reaper (software routing and delay).

Stereo Recording
Hello experts.
I would like some advice in stereo recording. I've read the books but I want to ask, out of your own experience, how do you pan tracks recorded using the following stereo techniques?
X/Y
Spaced pair
Blumlein pair
Mid Side
Decca tree
Thank you for your help!

Your First "Real" Console
How about it? What was your first real mixing desk? That first big purchase where you graduated from a Peavey, Sunn, Biamp, Tangent or Tapco board to the " big time"? LOL
Here's mine...a Neotek Elan... (Man, I sure miss that desk) I bought this to replace a Tascam 300 Series:

The Great Gear List - my past and present
I thought this would be fun to read and reminisce our past to present evolution of gear that passed through our hands.
I'm cringing at the thought of trying to remember it all in one pass, so I'll be updating mine post every week or so until its done to detail, or I am done.
I think I'll add up the cost of this party at the end too. :coffee:

First look at Sennheiser HD380
They're here and they're on my head. They sound nice and flat. Boy, they're hot on my ears. That will remind me to take regular breaks, if only to cool down. I'm trying out different reference mixes I'm familiar with to get used to them.

30 years later, not much has changed.
30 years later, I'm looking at what we were doing in the 80's. Not much has changed other than its more ITB now and we have been spending the last 20 years trying to get it to work.. We used hardware and midi. It looks like Korg is getting back to the basics.
This is like looking at Roland back in 1979, where it all began.
