Channelstrip as Frontend into my DAW(Logic Pro, I need a good
A/D too). I heard the Manley VOXBOX with an U67 and it sounded
AMAZING! But there is more good stuff outside there, so I wanted
to ask you guys if you can share any experience with other
Preamps with me...

A singer says she has a very loud voice & thinks this will cause problems when she comes to record in my studio.

I have a Nuemann TLM 103, an AKG Solidtube, a Sennheiser 421, a Shure SM57 and a kick drum/Tuba/bass mic

Does anyone reading this think it really could be a problem?

I've managed to get a tape jammed in my Fostex D10 DAT recorder. Most of the tape transport lights are flashing and the big display shows Err codE 007 (which probably translates to "some stupid plonker has put a broken tape in me"). Anyone know how to get the tape out? Power cycling certainly doesn't help. I bet there's some kind of button pressing combination that forces eject.

Can somebody give me please a short "How-To" for my question?

I'm about to go to college and am getting a new laptop (I know, you'll probably say I should get a desktop, but I definitely want a laptop)...it's probably going to be an IBM 1.6GHZ centrino with 512MB of RAM.

I was considering purchasing the Mbox so that I would be able to use the Pro Tools "lite" software and get acquainted with it for future occassions.

Does anyone have any experience with or know anything about the Sennheiser e900 series of dynamic mics? I've been able to find lots of into about the e800 series, but nothing about the 900 mics.

I am considering the purchase of nearfield monitors in the $400.00 price range. Are the Alesis M1 Active mk2 decent? I don't know if this would matter but music style is mostly New Age/Ambient. Nothing "too" loud.

i am purchasing a computer and everything needed to record mostly acoustic style music with some other instruments at some times...(drums, piano, electrik :) )

I'm not quite sure what type of soundcard to get.. 24bit, 96 khz I'm sure is all i need.. and for mixing do i just buy the mixer and plug it into the sound card? I'm not realy sure how it all works..

just seeing what you folks usually use and why. I've been using small diaphragms for years but would like to try something new. also, my snare doesn't pick up well in the overheads even when they are very(too) close.

Anytime I've heard or read something about home recording, Good preamps and compressors are highly recommended. Can anyone explain exactly what these effects do, and how they improve recordings so dramatically.
