Quartets

I teach school, sing bass in a small time southern gospel quartet. ANY free time I spend in my basement studio. I can do a decent job with instruments, solo vocals and even backup vocals. BUT, four part harmony like our quartet sings, I can't start to get a handle on. I can get the four vocal parts to sound ok by themselves but when I put them together they sound BAD.

Commando recording in a SILO!

me and my friends live in the boonies. There is a barn with a silo at my friend Dans house. Its empty. When you go into it, there is a whole nuther world of sound in their. Millions of sciencefiction type sounds possible.

It would be a nightmare control room, but maybe would could tame just enough of the nightmare so we could do some exploration in the world of sound?

tracking

Hi. i have a question that maybe someone could answer?when tracking typical backing tracks, bass, drums lead and rhythem guitars and keys which should be recorded in mono and which should be in stereo also normally would a vocal be done in mono and then a stereo reverb added at mixdown and typically where would you pan the tracks. thanks for any advice on this Jim.
