My AI-3 converter died on me the other day!
I was using it to convert AD into my MOTU 828. I have an old Blackface ADAT that I havent used in a while but still works, is there a way I can use it just for the conversion process, then go into my 828 via the optical out on the back of the ADAT?

I'm planning to go in for a surround monitoring setup. I've got strong recommendations for the Dynaudio AIR 6 or 15 against the Mackie HR824. Even SOS has given them a good review.

The Airs are complete with control software and bass management system, but are more expensive.

Does anyone have any experience with them?

I need to have 16 tracks of good pre's. Here's what I have already:

Focusrite ISA428 (w/ Digital)

Sytek (whatever the 4-channel one is w/ Burr Browns on 3 & 4)

UA 2108

PreSonus MP20

Where do I go next? I need 16 channels at least, and so far I have 12. I'm looking at the 2-610, but I'd still need two more channels. Whaddya think?

I'm curious: what kind of effective velocity range do people get out of their keyboards?

My motherboard fried and I need a replacement. I really like this board and hate to change. Unfortunatly this and just about all the other dual MP boards are discontinued. Anyone know where I can still find one of these NEW. I got my old one used on eBay and it only lasted about 8 months. I'd really like to find someone who has a new one in stock.

After a 3 year hiatus, 2 moves and a couple years in non-climate controlled storage, my studio is getting reinstalled. The casualties from the aforementioned abuse is not as bad as feared. The only pieces that are toast are my two old Mac Classic IIs, which I used to run MOTU Performer (Hey, they did the trick!).

This could sound so much better,...what do i do? I run acid 4.0, i have attained the best signal i could get goin in to the computer, but I'm having trouble finding that punch. Any advice is awesome, i will try anything, thanks again.

its a 16-8-16 w/ 3 aux. Is it the original Topaz before the Project 8?
Would it be worth recapping and etc.?

In the process if tuning my room. Been reading all the good info on the site about acoustics and monitors. I'm sure you've all had this discussion (I did try searching some old threads first), but in your opinion...what's the general consensus on the HR 824's? I was able to pick up a pair of these for cheap, when they first came out. So these are all I've used.

What's the feeling on this forum? Is USB 2.0 going to prevail or will the firewire 1394 ADC / DAC's be more popular.

I'd like to upgrade from my Edirol UA-1A and am thinking of some of the new USB 2.0 hi-speed converters with good quality mic preamps.
