Hi. I recently had the XP Disk Defragmenter analyze my honking 120 GB WD JB drive which lives in a USB 2 enclosure. It said the drive needed defragging even though it's only about a quarter full.

Basically the drive contains huge backup files for my recording and system drives.

Any specific recommendations for this?

would the PROMISE ULTRA133TX2 CONTROLLER CARD
be appropriate? I plan on keeping my 3 IBM Deskstars (system/apps, samples, audio) running off of the onboard IDE and running the CD and CD-RW off of the card.

Any problems or DAW issues with this?

I have to much gain on my basedrumchannel and my overhead channels. I use a Mackie sr24-4 board, atm25 basedrummic. and RODE nt5 as overheadmics. I use the Mackies inserts as direct outs to my soundcard which has 8 balanced inputs. I can't place the basedrummic. inside the basedrum, cause the signal is just to hot, even with the gain fully down!

I’m in the process of converting my basement into a home studio. My pc is done but now I need an interface. I was looking at the aardvark Q10 or the Focusrite Octopre. What are the differences between both of these? I noticed the Q10 has midi inputs and the octopre doesn't. What does midi actually do and what do I need to use it? Sorry for so many questions, I’m just starting out. Jeremy

Anybody ever tried it? I'm just investigating into it: 8 tube preamps and EQs, each with line out, I figure it could be a great front end for DAW tracking and as a final 8 bus mixer to avoid mixing "in the box".

Hi, I keep reading articles about narrowing the Q and sweeping the frequencies to find the problem frequency.

Can anyone please tell me what the physical act of sweeping the frequencies is please, is it actually tweaking the Frequency knob up and down and if it is, what exactly should I be listening for?
