DAW - Is this the recognized list of components?
Is this really the best group of components to make a great DAW? I decided to take a stab at putting it all together in one place for everyone to criticize!
Taking into account cost, performance and stability, the basic Foundation is a reasonable case that allows good cooling, with a special emphasis on power supply, noise (where possible) & memory quality.

Controlling DP
Here's a tip I had on the board a while back it seems to have disappeared
* Open the commands window
* Scroll down to transport
* Set hot key for "go to marker" to ( - ) on the num pad
* When naming markers use a number first
example...
1 two space bars Vrs 1
2 two space bars Chorus 1
3 two space bars Vrs 2

2-channel IDE motherboards (like P4B266) and CDROM integ
I am a new user here, so I want to start out by thanking some of the heavy hitters here for all of the valuable info! I have done tons of research..in addition to this board...and have one last stumbling block...
Neve 1073 EQ vs. . API EQ?
I haven't used a Neve 1073, but many claI'm there's magic in this combination of Neve preamp and eq.
Not wanting to spend the $$$'s for the 1073, but having a Neve 1272 and some open slots in a API rack, I was wondering if the combination of a Neve 1272 + API eq (550, 553, 554 type) would approach the "magic" of the Neve 1073?

Sytek Headroom
I tracked a college rock band this past weekend and I grew a bit fustrated with the limited headroom on my Sytek mic preamp's.
I used them on a SRW bass cabinet/RE-20, a fender amp/M-88, snare/57, and kick/TLM-103. I had to move the kick to a different mic preamp because it would overload with the gain all the way down. The mic was about 3-4 feet in front of the kick.

LAWP 5 and sync to ADAT
Looking forward to getting the LAWP version 5 program. Love the 4.x program!
Currently use LAWP 4.61 because it offers the best syncronization with the ADAT. Although I only use the ADAT when working with a guitarist friend exchaning ADAT tapes for recording projects, I still want to like to be able to use the ADAT with LAWP version 5.

Sonar and sync with ADAT
Still interested in purchasing the Sonar program. Before I purchase the program I would like have the following questions answered:
1) How difficult is it to sync Sonar with an ADAT?
2) How solid is the sync?

Pop Filter Maintenance
Recently I've noticed some extremely ratty, smelly, funky, ranked out, pop filters. Went down to the 99 cent store & bought a couple packages of hosery and "upgraded" the current pop filter (I'm sure I'm not the 1st person to do this). It doesn't smell now, and there's less chance of spreading germs.
