Hi everybody,
I finally got DP 3, impressive app.
Though, my G3 iBook 600 w/ 384 SDRAM shows it's processor performance kind of busy even with very simple projects and a couple of verb plugins running. I've had a couple of freezes already... and I'm just testing.
Is it that neccesary to have a G4?
What could I do to speed up my system?

Looking for some feedback from user's using the US-428 with Athlon based DAW's with no problems. I'm looking to build a new athlon system based around the US-428 and was hoping to get some advice on motherboard selection ETC... If you can post your system spec's it would be a great help.

I recently won an auction which was a grab bag of misc. pieces of gear and I don't know what to do with these things. They are fiber Optic systems for Pro Audio. I have a few different models and they are all 2 channel boxes. Has anyone ever used these things or know what they are used for primarily?

i heard there is some way of cancelling out all spill from studio monitors when tracking if they are in the right position and some phase reversal trick thingy is used. can anybody elaborate for the sake of me not using headphones in the studio?

i work sometimes with a bass player who plucks the strings with his thumb and not his fingers
it usualy sounds muddy and (indistinct)?
how would one tone it up a bit to get that clear definition the low end needs?

is the digi-mbox a sound card worth buying?
if you own or have used it, can you tell me about anything good or bad that you've experienced?

This is a subject I have yet to see nailed down on this site - Various OS's from Micro-Slop and the maximum # of devices (in or out) they can support. This refers to Midi in or out, audio (wav) in or out, mixers (internal), etc.

Buying a PC?

I am currently Logic Platinum on a Macintosh G3 333 MHz. This system has worked very well for me. It has been extremely stable, and has served me well for the last 3 years. Now I think is the time to upgrade to a bigger computer.

Actually my first thought was to by an Apple G4 867 MHz until a saw the price. That was to much for me to pay.

What is up with that vocal chain? I saw them on Saturday Night Live and they achieved the same dirty vox using a 58. I distorded pre, telephonish eq and nasty compression but what exactly is it?
