Mixer Question
I have narrowed my choice in a mixer that will be used mostly for recording and mixing drums. I am interested in the Mackie 1604 ProVlz and the Allen and Heath Mixwizard, model WZ16:2DX. I do not care too much about features, just quality. Does the Mixwizard have better preamps and EQ than the Mackie? I'm concerned about headroom, being that I will be using this for drums.

OK, so how much did you pay for your PT setup?
I'm about to purchase (in the next few weeks) a PT system. Most likely a PT Mix Plus. However, before I tangle with a Sales Weasel I'd like to go in armed.

Recording without a line-in jack.
My Compaq (works great for multimedia, but TOTALLY unreliable - no wonder they're on their knees) is down AGAIN so I am forced to record on a Toshiba laptop. Only there's no line-in (mic-in only) and hi-impedence signals will be distorted by the pre-amp of the mic-in.

Network PC to Mac
I have both a PC and a Mac. I've installed a network card into the PC and set up TCP/IP in both Mac and PC so that they can see each other (e.g. PING works). Do I need anything extra to be able to copy files between the two computers. If not, what do I need to do ?
Thanks

Why does eMagic convert imported stereo files to mono th
...seem to normalize the track volumes?
I import stereo audio and it asks if I want to convert to two mono tracks. Simple enough - it's going into one audio track. The only thing I notice is it seems to normalize the track volumes taking away individual track dynamics...
Am I doing something wrong or going crazy?

Recording a piano
Hi
The son of a friend of my wife's mother :-)
wants to get rid of his piano :-)
Don't get a piano offered for free every day, do you?
It will be tuned/checked on monday
After that I see myself trying to record my pling-ploing
Problem is I don't know a thing about recording something a bit realistic (for a realistic price).

TC Triple-C digital comp
Hi, I'm buying a compressor and I'm gonna use it for tracking of vocals and acoustic guitar. It will sit between my preamp and my DAW.
I think the TC Triple-C (mono version) sounds like a great deal considering it's on sale here in Sweden for $180 (list price in the reviews is stated to $700). It's got good reviews (see links below).

Opus, the Tascam pc optimization link is down
I was about to refresh myself on some stuff, but the link I grabbed from an old post is giving me a server error message. Has the site migrated, or are they just trying not to give tech support for products that aren't their own?
