Guitar quality drops when recording?

ok i am using fl studio to record my guitar and bass. the problem is when i record the guitar in edison recorder it sounds fine. i past it in the play list so i can record the bass guitar while the guitar track is playing. while the guitar track is playing back and i am playing bass the quality of the sound drops significantly. why?

Mobile studio in depth questions.

Hi. So I took up a black friday deal and got a good core i7 laptop for cheap. Unfortunately all laptops now have 3.0 usb and no firewire possibilities, which makes my bandmates nice Focusrite sapphire useless to me. I still have a 2 channel emu 2.0 interface that's working well for my midi triggering vst's and 2 channel recording. I would like to have multi-channel for live drums.

Best Improvement for Live Ensemble Recording

I've been doing recordings of High School and College level musical ensembles for family and friends (and sometimes myself relying on set-and-forget) for a couple years now using only a lone RODE M3 microphone hooked into Marantz PMD660. I've managed to get surprisingly good results from this setup, but I'd love to step it up a healthy notch - and get the most bang for my buck.

What Monitor Control System do you use?

I own both the SPL MTC 2381 and the Dangerous Monitor ST. I'm actually torn between either. They both sound amazing.
There are a few things that either one doesn't have so I mention this rather than the things that are obvious. Both controllers are IMO the best on the market, both have basically the same functions.

Power surges, transients and other bad stuff.

Hello all! New user, first time poster. I have been recording live music for 20+ years generally in the capacity of a musician in a band, via analog four track or more recently the stand-alone digital units, specifically a Fostex VF160. I have been recorded in a professional recording studio several times, so although I am not a "newbie" per se, this activity is always a learning experience.
