For those of you who man 'the Hotline' - maybe it's just me, but have you noticed a disturbing trend (even more than usual)?

I'm continually shocked by how many newcomers prefer to ask advice from a forum of strangers, rather than read the downloadable manual, or do any research - or experimentation on their own.

I'm looking for an improvement to my current PA. I'd like the system to be able to run a full mic'd up 6-piece band (drums, bass, guitar x 2, keys, vox x 3) with decent effects, switchable via MIDI. Playing to halls of approx 100-300 people.

OK, of course I am aware that the topic is very broad but I just want to get some ideas flowing here.

I play guitar. I love playing guitar, and I've been writing my own songs for months. I guess this is a very vague question but if I wanted to record a song, where do I start? I have the guitar, that's about it. What equiptment do I need? What websites do I need to go to. I don't know anything.

I've been using a PreSonus firepod for a little while. It isn't actually mine though and I'm working on building my own home setup, so I need to buy a new one.

Should I just buy another firepod, or venture out to new things? Does anyone have any other advice for a basic setup for tracking/demoing?

Im using the Tascam US-1641 for my interface atm and I was wondering what everyones opinion is on the rack unit! Good, bad, ya know?

And possiply suggestions on what to get next for an interface thats some what affordable.

Hey all

Whenever the refrigerator in my studio starts/stops (thermostat regulation), it produces a short pop/click noise on the computerspeakers..
I could live with that. But when I'm recording, that sound is recorded too and makes the recording unusable! :frown:

How can I get the snare to seem as if it is right smack in front of me ?
I have sampled hits of strike drum machine.
I am using a TL space reverb and am experimenting that and
some gate on an aux channel.
I am happy with the tone and the attack of the snare now but need it to come up closer.
