A/D/A Converters

Hi All, I have a question about converters.. I recently switched from a digital board to a soundracs Topaz 32. I need to find a way to get as many individual channels into the computer (G5). I want to use the pres and EQ on the board prior to going ITB during the tracking phase and then come OTB and mix with the Soundtracs during the mixing process.

Will two Tascam US-1641 do the job?

Hi,

A while ago I purchased a Tascam US1641. Wonderful unit I must say, recorded 14 tracks directly from the splitbox on stage into my Macbook Pro with external firewire drive during a festival without any problems.

I was wondering now: will two of these units still make me happy so I can record up to a least 24 tracks? Or will USB kill me at that point?

1/4 Inch or RCA

I've been looking into getting some monitors for my home studio. I would be plugging them into a Tascam Interface. I had never really thought about how monitors were connected, but as I looked at the monitors we have at work I realized that the inputs can come in as XLR, 1/4 inch, or RCA. My interface has only RCA outputs. Will this affect the sound quality?

Guitar ukulele equipment chain question.

For my school, I just bought a Line6 Spider IV 75-watt amp. It is solid state. What would happen if I put the Groovetubes Brick in front of it as a tube pre-amp?

I use a dimarzio acoustic pickup on the inside of my acoustic uke. I plugged my baby into the amp, and there was LOTS of feedback at even low levels on the amp. would using a DI box help remedy this or no?

Hello forum!

First let me say that I'm very excited that this forum exists. After trolling a little bit I can see that the moderators and many users here are exceptionally well-informed, and I can't wait to begin the dialogue with other musicians who are trying to record well to help each other get the exact sound we want.
