I am working on experimental scenario which is proving to be an audio challenge. I aI'm to gather a group of between 5 and 30 people to drone and sing chorally together. This should then be amplified by mics situated within the group, whilst a large soundsystem surrounding the group amplifies the drone (with and without effects). The aI'm is to create immensely powerful immersion.

I'm working on a song which I'm really excited about, but I can't seem to hammer down the vocals. I know what style I want to sing the song in, a soft, dreamy sort of style. The sound I'm getting is thin and seems too quiet in the mix. If I turn up the volume of the track, it distorts. Should I turn the other tracks down, compromising the big sound feel of the song?

I did a side by side today simulating having a DI box vs not having one. (I don't actually have one) Before you say WTF, here's what I did.

1. Run guitar into MXR KFK 10 Band EQ (has two identical outputs)
2. One output goes to amp
3. One goes to FireBox HI-Z input.

So what is the general opinion of these. Live concert only or do they have validity for studios and high quality acoustic (classical whatever) concerts? Several large name players have versions-Whirlwind, Pro-Co, Aphex etc and obviously they wouldn't build them if there was no demand. Cat6 sure weighs less than multicore.

Thoughts?

I was wondering what you all thought of this setup? (This is the gear I am stuck with, I don't have a budget - i just wanna know if I'm doing things right)

Hope I picked the right Forum - I've been playing in a trio for the last couple of years. We are currently working a project, recording our second album. We've always recorded on our own home studio. PC based DAW, Audio Interface, preamps , condensor & dynamic mics.

Eric Johnson's backing guitar sound on 'Pavillion' and 'SRV' - the incredibly 80s, chiming chorus sound

Been using the Audiophile 192 for home recording and wanted something external so I can take it around with a laptop as well. What's a good USB audio interface that's equivalent to the Audiophile 192 PCI card? Brand doesn't necessarily matter but looking for something around the same cost range of the Audiophile 192. I have the Event Tria 2.1 system where the 2 satellite speakers are powered via a 5pin female to female cable that runs from the sub/power amp. I'm pretty certain that one of these cables is bad or there is a bad ground. Does anyone have any familiarity with these cables? this system? ANY help is appreciated, thank you!

I recently bought a pair of Behringer Truth B2031A Studio Reference monitors, and a pair of TRS 1/4" Balanced cables. I plugged one cable into each monitor's input, and the other ends of the two cables into the left and right main outputs on my Phonic mixer, which is connected to my iMac through firewire.
