I think this is the most "newbiest" question I have every asked.
What microphone cable should I use with the Shure SM57? I'm getting confused with these female and male XLR cables, etc. etc. I'm like lost D: And if you need to know what my audio interface is here it is:

I tryed reading up on who gets paid from a song, and how royalties work, and it was too confusing.

So what I want to know is how much of the business is MANDATORY, and how much is NOGOTIATED. What i'm getting at is how much of the system can you modify without breaking any laws?

If you think this is a stupid question, then I'm sorry for not knowing and just getting into recording.
But I just wanted to know what the difference was. I already have an audio interface (Lexicon Lambda) but I'm thinking about getting an audio mixer, but aren't they the same thing? Or what...

I am looking for an inexpensive in ear solution. I have an idea but I am not sure if it would work.
Could I take the wire from my stage monitor and plug it into a headphone amp, and then just plugin my ear buds to that? I am not sure if it would overload the headphone amp.

There's something very sturdy about returning all the dials back to zero when you are mixing. You know you have wandered off and sort of fixed some issues, but meanwhile you have created new issues and you are getting confused. When you return to zero you hear exactly what's on the tracks in an unaltered way. Take off all effects all eq and listen straight up again.

Hey i was just wondering what you guys thought of the Studiophile BX5a Deluxe

I plan on getting the BX5a Deluxe's but i'm not totally sure

I need some ok sounding monitors for for under 500 dallors and this seems to be one of the best ways to go, What do you guys think?

or should i got with the Bx8a deluxe's? They seem kinda big for what i need though

I know they are commonly used for effect insert loops, but can i use them to go from a single 1/4 headphone out port to left and right 1/4 jack using the said stereo y-cable?
