Best setup to get my Shure SM58 to PC *WITHOUT* hissing/noise?
Forums
Basically, I have a Shure SM58 attached to a home-made XLR-->1/4 Adapter-->1/8 Jack going into a SB Audigy (yes, the card sucks, I know)... The recordings sound clear and crisp (when I boost the recording a whole 60%) but then you get audible noise/static when the backing track is muted...
New To Pedal Modifying
Forums
So I am learning the fundamentals of electrical properties and how to manipulate audio signal slowly, but I need some reinforcement especially on some of the finer details. I've got some mods in mind and I am just hoping to clear up some things prior to. The mod is to my trusty SD-1 pedal.

Recording an entire album to one project, or each project a song?..
Forums
Hello everyone out there!
I send my greetings to all the music recording community!
I am (try to be), a recording engineer, and my question is:
Is my laptop good enough to handle recording?
Forums
Hi guys.
I was wondering if my laptop was good enough to handle all the recording and etc. that I would be doing. So here are some of the specs:
Dell Vostro 1500
Intel Core 2 Duo @1.60 GHz
1.00 GB Ram
Windows 7 32-bit
Pod XT vs Amplitude
Forums
I tried out Amplitube 2 and liked it, so I have version 3 on order (not out for a couple of weeks yet). When I tried the demo I pushed my computer to see what it would handle, and I got it to crack a little before I wanted it to. I think some of the reason is I'm running Windows 7 and both my interface and Cubase are using Vista drivers.

In ear monitor systems
Forums
I'm considering an upgrade for the live sound monitoring system that I run for my jazz and alt. country groups. In another thread Dvdhawk mentioned Hear Back, Aviom, & myMix as distribution systems. I can try out Hear Back locally. It would be helpful if some of you could compare it to some of the other systems.

Helping choosing the gear for my first serious home studio
Forums
I'm building a home studio from scratch. I'll be running it on a dedicated windows XP or Vista machine, whichever OS is optimal. Right now 3.0ghz pentium 4 with 2 gigs of ram. Looking to upgrade to 3-4 gigs of ram soon.
reasonable audio interface for under $200
Forums
Hello All!
I use my PC for lots of entertainment, from watching movies, recording TV, listening to music, and I dabble in music production.
I'm looking for a reasonable audio interface for under $200 that will suit my needs but not give me buyers remorse shortly after the return policy expired.

Anyone here ever hear of Carl Martin FX?
Forums
A friend just turned me on to the idea of these boutique pedals. I am looking into the Hot Drive n Boost MK3 for in front of my amp and I was wondering if anyone had any input on the company or pedal itself.

Garageband old version - where can I find the file?
Forums
So I'm going to teach a home recording class, and as I was researching I discovered that Apple no longer gives away Garageband for free. (Poor taste, apple.)
