Noob here, home recording ideas and options
Forums
Hey,
I am trying to record some of my songs at home, I can play guitar okay, can play the drums on a keyboard and sing a little.
I want it to sound respectable but doesn't have to be super quality sound.
Items I have access to:
guitars, microphones, computers, Fostex MR-8, and a Fender Princeton amp

FL Studio synths -> Audition
Forums
With my keyboard I use synths from FL Studio.
For recording guitar/bass and vocals I use Adobe Audition 3.0
is there a way to record my synths from FL Studio directly in audition as if it was an instrument?
both programs are on the same computer.

Wharfedale 8.2 active monitors hiss when nothing playing?
Forums
Hi,
Upon several recommendations from this and other forums I bought a pair of Wharfdale 8.2 Diamond pro active monitor speakers.
Ive just plugged the power in, turned them on and without even plugging in a music cable yet I can hear a hiss (on 1/4 volume, which is quiet).
This is extremly frustrating, does anyone have any ideas why this may be happening?
Amateur Recording question
Forums
I have two questions. Me and my friend have been recording music together for a few months, and we're about ready to record a full length album. We'd like to do everything ourself, because we've already made products on a Tascam digital 8 track recorder that are hi-fi enough for our liking, and we don't want to spend money to get professionally recorded.

on the fly quality to computer for cheap
Forums
What I am looking for is a method to get decent quality input on voip chats such at ventrillo etc, and have some cheap reverb/chorus effects. The hardware I can make use of for this is a Shure 57, Xfi Xtreme music pci card. Everything else I would like to be able to purchase from a guitar center.

Stereo, or two mono tracks?
Forums
I want to record electric guitar with two mics on two speakers of one cabinet. I could put this on a stereo track, or two mono tracks, but cannot recognize all the factors involved in the decision.

Informal survey of guitarists habits in the studio
Forums
Out of ten guitarists, how many of them will sit when performing for a recording, and how many will stand? Does this value change if it is restricted to exceptionally good guitar players?

Compressor Channels?
Forums
So I am thinking about purchasing a rackmounted compressor, and all different flavors aside, I am wondering about their channels. It seems that the max amount of channels I can find on a unit is two channels. This seems fine for compressing the occasional vocal or two, but what if I want to compress a drum kit while tracking?
