Hi, Im trying to record vocals, a keyboard, and a guitar. I need an audio interface. I was set on buying an m-audio fast track usb interface after visiting a store, but reading online reviews has changed my mind. I am considering a firewire interface, but i do not a firewire input on my computer.
Is there a usb/firewire converter?
Which is easier?

I figured I'd make a general discussion/q&a forum for this because i will need it.

I just installed my Tascam 1641 today.
Overall, it is great, however so far I tried recording through the two guitar inputs in the front, and the guitar (no matter how high iturn up the volume) it doesn't show it coming up on the software...
help?

I have been asked to record a band of the friend of mine. They are cool guys but not excellent musicians. It is a 3 piece band.

So I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem. To answer your preliminary questions; the headphones are fine and no it doesn't happen in playback. At first I thought it might have been a bad jack, but how could it be the jack if it doesn't distort during playback? Also, it doesn't matter how low my levels are when recording, it still distorts.

I can buy Behringer T1953 Tube Ultragain with changed tubes (Electo Harmonix) for 150$ is it worh it? Can u tell the diference with electro harmonix tubes? I mean yeah u prob can but will it sound better?

Can u make a list of consumer equipment 400-500$ max that can actualy sounds suprisengly good. Post anything u can think of, eq, compressors, preamps.

Please excuse my naivité, but I'm not sure how to work through a problem.

I used a friends RME hammerfall card & ADI-8 DS 6+ years back. We used it with s/mux through lightpipe to record everything at 24/96. I think I remember having 2-buses in Nuendo through the ADI-8 at 24/96.

First i wanna say i know very little bout recording so be gentle with me...
I recorded guitar with one condenser mic and i was rely happy with it but now i wanna record with 2 mics.
