i'm lookin to get an abient roomy bass gtr sound

i've got some condensers and dynamics, i'm generally a mic the cab up close kinda guy, but i want a amb sound for this session i'm workin on, and i don't want to use fake reverb.

its for a fast punk style sound, i'll prob still close mic it though, but i want to be able to choose what i want, when i mix it.

digimax fs or single preamp?

I have a firepod at the moment (soon to be profire 2626) and i was thinking of getting 2 preamps with an eq and compressor built into them- the PreSonus eureka and Joemeek 6Q- and connecting them via spdif.

But they would be around 500 euro each. Would it be a better idea to get a digimax fs and have 8 preamps via ADAT then add external hardware to the inserts down the line.

Signal path and Order of rack mount gear

I am wondering about the order in which I should set up my devices. I am recording guitar direct (or bass) and wish to run it through a Lexicon MX200 effects processor, a preamp, a compressor, and then obviously the last connection will be my Firebox DI box.

In what order should I run the compressor, Lexicon (for a little reverb), and preamp?

UA 2-610 and AD/DA converter...

I have some extra money saved up. I'm thinking about getting the UA 2-610 for my studio, but I don't know if it will be the best for the style of recording that I do. I currently own the dbx 386 preamp which I'm not satisfied with as my main preamp. I also need a better AD/DA converter, right now I'm suck with the 200 dollar Behringer 8 track converter that to my ear sounds horrible.
