Hi, I've got my first band coming to the new studio to record in two weeks. I am relatively prepared but also a bit worried because, although it's not at all my first time recording, it is my first time recording a band in THIS studio. I only have one room at the moment. The band is a death metal 4 piece group with a pretty small drum kit.

I currently have Mackie 1402 VLZ. I don't use its mic preamps.

I've been googling a bit and searching the forum but nothing has come up, so i thought id go ahead and ask.

Basically, Ive got a RODE NT1A > Rolls IIB PB224 Phantom Power Supply > Sony RH1 minidisc recorder.

I'm getting good sound out of it, but it is ONLY in the left ear of the headphone, thats abnormal, right?

My first post here, I was active on the Steinberg's forums for years, but don't use their product no more.However I do have question, and I need you experience in this matter. I was an active mastering engineer years back, but no more.Sometimes I master a project for my friends.Ok.

I originally posted this question here, and it was moved to the newbie section, which is fine except for two things:

1-I don't think it's a newbie question.
2-it got no replies whatsoever there.

So I'll give it another shot.

I record my Midi performances on my Yamaha Motif ES into a Sweetwater Creation Station DAW. I record with Sonar using an Edirol FA-66 soundcard (audio interface), and running Receptor with the Komplete libraries (which utilize Kontakt as a plugin soft synth within Sonar).

So i plug my condenser mic into the firebox with I just bought today, and only the left channel is recorded. Right channel is dead silent. There are several reasons why I believe this is the firebox's problem, not my computer or the mic. Has anyone had this problem or does anyone know whats up. Thanks.

I am loathe to buy -anything- 'Waves'... I've evaluated several of their plugs and there is always some problem... either with authorizing the demo or getting timely responses from their support. And then there's the price... oy...
