Hi there

Hello, this is my first post here. I decided to join to learn more about recording. I am an enthusiastic beginner, but limited in resources and experience, so I hope others will tolerate my questions which are apt to be basic. I just read Mastering Audio by Katz, and am almost finished Behind the Glass. Both were good reads, and I think I learned something from the simpler parts.

So, I'm guessing this is the right place to post this. It isn't a "Pro-audio" piece of equipment. If I'm wrong please move this topic.

I have done some basic recordings in the past. Basic as in acoustic guitar, then record vocals separately as another track. I generally use Audacity (funny right?) but I recently got a legal copy of Adobe Audition 3 from a friend that just upgraded to a Mac.

Here is my current set up:

Mixer: Behringer Eurorack MX802A
Mic: MXL 990

I recently got a laptop, and was horrified when I tried recording for the first time. I am simply plugging into the mic jack on the front, and no matter what I have plugged in be it a microphone or guitar there is a terrible static. It starts with a loud pop at the beginning of the recording, and persists as very noisy static throughout.

Anyone ever play with one of these?

Hi All,

was wondering if anyone has used the little labs redeye di/reamp box?
Currently using the pod xt pro as a di (so I can monitor a proper sound during recording) but need a good reamp box so I can go out of my daw to a real amp, etc. Any other suggestions welcome!
