I've been getting into different types of video game and movie music. I'm not MUCH of a composer but I love to write rock music. I've been incorporating orchestra sounds with rock music (yeah, like that hasn't been done before) for industrial rock-ish movie music. Make sense?

I'm hoping to get an API 3124+ at the end of next week (been on backorder). I've been told to expect a very hot signal, so I may have to buy a bunch of inline attenuators. The only one that gets several hits is a search is the Audio-Technica AT8202. Any other brands to consider? If I'm going to dedicate 4 to the 3124, I don't need the switchable pad. Any brands to avoid?

Quick question about computer monitor DVI cables.

What's the maximum cable length of DVI cable that can be used?

So I am in the market for some new gear (thank you tax return).
What I am having a hard time wrapping my head around is weather or not to go with PreSonus (high enough quality for a home studio set up) or an RME 800 (with the intention of getting into acoustic performances, every thing from jazz bands to orchestrations).

I have 2 separate stereo systems [2 amps each with it's own speakers and other music gear], I run my music from my laptop and depending on the music I will use either system [amp] but of course I will have to stop the music to connect the laptop output to whichever amp input I will be switching to.

i just want some nice ones that give me full sound going into my converters. i don't want some eh pres, or some ultra mega pres, i just want some that won' t muddy up anything. you know, does that make sence. enough different colors, i just want great goin in.

All interfaces are/have converters, but not all converters are interfaces.

I am in my first year in audio at Nescom and I have a project on the 32 channel Soundcraft Ghost console. Time is very limited so I cant mess around on it for too long so Im hoping I can get a few tips before I get there.

I have 10 tracks, 1 and 2 are drums, 3 is bass, 4 and 5 is rythm guitar, 6 and 7 is lead guitar, 8 and 9 is some random kybd noise, 10 is kybd slap bassy thing.

I'm looking for an mp3 encoder suitable for acoustic music.

128kbps, ideally.

Any suggestions?
