My name is Ben from Sacto, CA.

Im just starting to get my feet wet with recording, I have played guitar for 10 years and now Im looking to do a solo project of covers.

My question is I need to know what else would be useful to me, as far as Recording Equipment goes at a reasonable cost. Here is what I have so far, Ill include my music gear.

I'm about to buy a new mixer but i don't know how they sound and i really don't have the ability to listen to all of them, but some of the mixers that I'm interested of is these ones, all of these boards are 24ch, and thats the sice i need.

Just wondering if anyone here is familiar with the NEW definition of Juerg Jecklin's disc.

Anyone got any experience with one or two of these? Just looking for some thorough reviews.

Okay I am looking for a mixer that obviously gets plugged into the computer via firewire and this looks fine and all and it is a decent price so I ask...

What kind of inputs are used on this device? Nvm... i see how it is XLR now...

Also, what is ADAT? Another type of hookup for more tracks?

I own a mobile recording studio mainly used for recording live gigs.

At the moment I have a PreSonus FP10 and an old Mesh laptop recently the mesh has died and am looking towards getting a new one.

What should I go for... Mac or Pc? Which is better for recording?

ok before i start, I'm new, so if theres a big long thread somewhere that answers my questions, feel free to just link me and il read.

I did this back in the mid-80s with a Ramsa console, an RCA patchbayand Otari 2 and 8 track recorders.

Things have really changed. My first attempt to build a digital recording studio was not successful. It worked and the quality was good but inserting and controlling music and sound effects and monitoring have been a complete PIA.

I am going to try again.

Which one would you recommend as the only LDC in a closet?

Right now I'm looking at picking it up for its price, versatility in pick up pattern, SPL range (155db max SPL I believe), and because I like the sound of AKG mics. I've worked briefly with the perception 200 and I'm wondering how this one differs, if it does at all.
