Recording acoustic guitar with Samson G Track
Hey, I'm new to this forums, and hope someone can help me:)
I've been trying to record an acoustic guitar some time with Samson G Track (Now I know, not the best choice.) and this S/N ratio was really bad. I mean, there was lots of noise, and I could never get my signal go over (putting it's sensitivity high) -20db without sounding really hissy and noisy.
MS Recording balance issue
Hi,
when recording acoustic guitars (or other instuments!) using MS technique Im getting mixed results in respect of the balancing of the S channels.
We use good mics, AKG 414 / U87i etc and are dong it through decent analog desk (Soundcraft ghost), but get strange things when balancing for mix.

Recording classical guitar in mono?
I'm getting ready to record a classical guitarist in my studio. There will be no other instruments; only his guitar. I'm thinking I may record him in mono, and just wondered what you more experienced folks think about that... I've got three decent mics: two AKG C1000s and a RODE NT1-A.

BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT...my new Partscaster...IT IS FINISHED!
Hey folks!
After much a-do, the Partscaster I started in 2003 is now finished. It's been from around the world and through 3 separate moves, but I finally finished it. All that remains is a headstock logo, but I will get around to that when I finalize the design. It also uses 2 string trees, not pictured.
Help mic-ing an acoustic guitar.
I have an acoustic guitar, and I'm playing a riff which consists of chords with hammer-ons and pull-offs. I have a perception 420 mic, it's not the greatest, but I can get a decent sound out of it. I also use my PreSonus channel mixer as a pre-amp, since it has a tube overdrive function. My question is, how can I get the hammer-ons and pull-offs to stand out from the the rest of the riff?

Recording Vocals with an Acoustic Guitar
Being primarily a solo artist I do my best singing while playing the Acoustic guitar. This creates a problem when I record as my Vocal track picks up artifacts from my guitar. In an effort to get as CLEAN a vocal track as possible I have tried Noise Gates, EQ and any other method I could think of to reduce the guitar in the vocal track.

[Cubase 5/Plugins] Acoustic Recording Question [To Mic Or Not To Mic]
Hey everyone quick question. If using Cubase 5 what plugins do you normally use to record acoustic guitar (This is my first time with acoustic). Also, would you suggest running the guitar straight from a mixing board to an audio interface, or Micing it? If you suggest Micing where do you normally place your condensers?
